Miles for a 'Makai'

A 'Corny' date on a rainy day...

The season's rains had finally decided to shower on us on a Saturday evening in office. The fragrance of the first rain instigated a temptation to break free and experience the simpler things in life. The first thing that came to our mind was the fresh whiff of roasted corn. The craving led me to step on the gas and turn up the volume, while the others settled back to enjoy the blissful ride.

We let our hearts lead the way. Who would have thought that we would cross city borders, driving all the way to the capital city to satisfy our whim.

Rains, conversation, music, plenty of laughter...and the urgency to get back in time for Arkane's dance class, which she simply refused to miss. Torn between a leisurely evening and a strict regime, we managed to do it all...Who said we can't have the best of both worlds!

We started our drive when it was drizzling and as we drove further, the rains lashed harder. But our relentless quest continued to the outskirts of Gandhinagar. With unheard screams of 'Bhaiyya, yahan bhutta kahan milega?' we drove ahead in the direction given by streethawkers. When our search yielded no results we made a detour with a dissapointed countenance. On our way back just as we had lost our hope, we spotted a bhutta-wala right under our noses!

Niv and Arkane screamed their lungs out in joy and a cry of triumph. The bhutta's tasted heavenly and we relished them under the highway sky. It was indeed a long drive, and we managed to be back in time for arkane's dance class, too!
